About Let My Children Go
Let My Children Go was founded with a simple yet profound mission: to provide a refuge of safety, healing, and restoration for children rescued from sex trafficking throughout Iowa.
When retired physician Dr. Michael Peters first learned the staggering reality of trafficking in Iowa, his heart was moved to action. With a deep belief that true healing must happen in the body, mind, and spirit, he stepped forward to begin building a place of refuge and restoration for children who have been rescued from exploitation.

This new organization is grounded in compassion, urgency, and faith — and guided by a vision that sees every child as deeply worthy of safety, love, and healing. Let My Children Go is intentionally designed to be collaborative, welcoming the gifts and wisdom of individuals, churches, nonprofits, professionals, and community groups who want to be part of the solution.
We believe God is already at work bringing light into the darkness—and we invite you to join us in this necessary mission. Whether you have resources, time, skills, or simply a willing heart, there is a place for you here.
Our Approach: Restoration Begins with Refuge
Let My Children Go exists to meet this urgent need for restoration and recovery from human trafficking. We are building a comprehensive, faith-rooted, trauma-informed care system for rescued children in eastern Iowa.

Escaping trafficking is just the first step. Many survivors, especially children, need immediate medical care and detox support before they can begin long-term healing. Let My Children Go is uniquely positioned to step in during this critical window—about 2 to 4 weeks after rescue—offering a safe, trauma-informed environment rooted in compassion and care.

Our Restoration Home provides holistic support—addressing body, mind, and spirit—to help each child stabilize, regain trust, and begin their journey toward restoration. This long-term model fills a vital gap and helps prevent re-exploitation by offering true refuge and hope for the future.

We believe restoration takes time, trust, and a loving environment. That’s why we’re launching a multi-phase strategy:

We partner with professionals, agencies, ministries, and volunteers—knowing that it takes all of us to rewrite the future for these children. Our team includes medical professionals, licensed counselors, and trained staff, all united around one purpose: to walk with children toward healing and hope.
